"JOE"

I recently had a commissioned work as a birthday present,Joe's sister ask me to do his portrait for his birthday as she like him very very much !

So she sent me several pictures and i did the one where he was at the best of himself : happy !

I won't describe all the portrait in details are there are lots of them but will show you few of them, what did inspire me and how i put think together in the drawing.

Classic Rock.

Well this is the rock we used to listen in the 70's, joe`s sister told me he was very fond of classic guitar hero like jimi hendrix, the pink floyd (gilmour) and led Zeppelin (Jimmi page). Well as i`ve little bit knowledge of theses i've first put the jimmi on the left, with the reversed fender stratocaster (lefthanded playing a right handed guitar), including the wah-wah effects pedal and the bandana in the hairs. Then for led Zeppelin, i`ve decided to go for the zeppelin as it was the story of this band : like a zeppelin, ready to burn in the air like the hindenburg Zeppelin.
Then for the pink Floyd, i`ve put two pink floyds even if i know that their name come from two blues mens called Mr Pink and Mr Floyd but little bit of poetry is great, into correct this, i`ve put a moon with the dark side visible and the light going through a glass triangle, refering to their album "The Dark Side of The Moon"
The Extras are a fender guitar (jimi's favorite guitar and David Gilmour as well), a 70`s/80`s hifi system including a cd reader (new generations don`t know about all theses pre-ipod systems we used to listen old classic music...)

lionels train

Little train

Joe`s sister talked about the lionel trains. I had no idea about what it was about and did little research on the internet to see how the trains looked like... and it was about little toy trains wich are now collectibles. I started to draw the idea of lionel train witht he help of an ad of this firm with a little boy playing with his christmas present train.

Muscle car

I had only this indication : he own one and like to spend time on it. Well the idea of muscle car is about a V8 american engine under a huge bonnet. List of amercian muscle car is quit large but in my opinion, the one we have in mind are thoses immortalised in the movies like the Dodge charger (i´ve used the dodge charger`68 RT for the picture), i also put a V8 picture and toolbox for fixing up the 375 wild horses tracting this kart.
